What's Happening

From the Principal's Office:
Good afternoon, Middle School Parents and Families,

Happy Monday and welcome back from Spring Break! I hope that everyone was able to spend time together as a family and (maybe) even get some rest!

We are now starting 4th quarter and our students have a fresh start for both grades and discipline (folder pulls). We are looking forward to getting this 4th quarter off to a great start and know that we will be to the end of the year before we know it!

Dress Code: With the weather warming up, this is the time of year when we start to see kids pushing the boundaries of our Policy Book when it comes to the kinds of clothes that they are wearing. Please note the following regulations when it comes to student dress code and keep an eye on the clothes that your child is wearing to school.

  1. Shorts, dresses, skirts or other similar clothing shall fully cover the student’s leg to mid-thigh (a good way to check is to have your student hold their hands down at their side.If clothing covers their legs down to their finger tips from the font, back and sides, they are probably OK).
  2. Students will not wear inappropriately sheer, light or low-cut clothing (e.g. midriffs, halter tops, backless clothing, tube tops, garments made of fishnet, mesh, or similar material muscle tops, etc.) that bare or expose traditionally private parts of the body including, but not limited to, the stomach, buttocks, back and breasts. Pants with exceptionally large holes and pajama bottoms are inappropriate.
  3. Students will not wear tank tops or other similar clothing with straps narrower than 1.5 inches in width.

If a student is deemed to be in violation of the dress code, they will be required to change into appropriate clothing or make arrangements for appropriate clothing to be brought to the school. If no arrangements for appropriate clothing can be made, the student may be sent home. A student who repeatedly violates the dress code policy could be subject to suspension.

If you have questions about our dress code, please don’t hesitate to give me a call.

8th Grade Field Trip to Elitches on May 9th:

On Thursday, May 9th, the 8th grade class will be traveling to Elitches in Denver for an end of year 8th grade celebration. We have been taking this trip for many years as a way to reward our 8th graders for their 3 years as middle school students and to help them celebrate their transition to the high school.

Because this trip is considered a reward, we have a number of eligibility requirements in place. (Please see below):

1. Students must be academically eligible to attend.

2. Eligible students must not have any major office referrals (category 2 or greater) during 4th quarter.

3. Students who receive 4 or more folder pulls during 4th quarter will NOT be eligible.

Every 8th grade teacher has gone over the eligibility criteria with our 8th grade students so everyone knows what is required. If you have any questions about the 8th grade trip or its eligibility requirements, please contact me at 970-336-8610.

That should cover it all for now. Thank you for taking the time to read this very lengthy update.

As always, thank you for everything that you do for our students and for our school. Have a great day and a great week!

Parents please utilize the drop off lanes when dropping off students unless you are planning to walk them to their building. Students are being dropped off in the parking lot which is creating a dangerous situation as they walk across the lanes of traffic. If you are walking your child to their school, please use the cross walk.
